The Minnesota Vikings have cut their team down to the league-mandated 53-man roster and it’s time to examine how things look.
2015 is a year for the Vikings to be a contender and from the quarterback to the place kicker, they need to be ready to go each and every week.
Some of the positions are incredibly solid while others could still use improvement.
On the whole, this is a team that is now ready to take on the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers for dominance in the NFC North. The last time the Vikings won the division was 2009 (repeating after 2008). If the Vikings can win another title, it will be with yet another different quarterback at the helm.
ALSO ON SPIN ZONE: Where does Teddy Bridgewater rank among QBs?
But Teddy Bridgewater may be the most complete player to do it. The last three times the Vikings made the playoffs, they had quarterbacks Christian Ponder (2012), Brett Favre (2009), and Gus Frerotte (2008) under center. With the exception of a revitalized Favre in 2009, Bridgewater looks to be the best of the bunch.
Better yet, he won’t come crashing back to earth when his body betrays him just one year after a stellar season.
The window is clearly opening for the Vikings. It’s time for them to put it all together and get through.
We’ll examine the roster position by position as it was at the end of Saturday. There are plenty of changes that could still be made as other teams have released players and contenders like the Vikings continue to jostle for position by adding players who could still help.
Let’s dive in.
