Washington Redskins CB Chris Culliver
In 2014, the Washington Redskins allowed a disgusting 35 touchdowns with just seven interceptions forced, posting the NFL’s third-worst net yards per attempt allowed as a defense (7.2), according to Pro-Football Reference. Therefore, the Redskins went out and signed one of the best corners on the open market in Chris Culliver to a four-year deal worth $32 million.
Although Culliver causes problems off of the field, he is a darn good cornerback. Culliver is coming off of a season in which he defended 15 passes for a second straight year, and he also picked off four passes. With the sixth-most snaps in coverage before allowing a reception, according to PFF, Culliver showed that he has the ability to be a No. 1 corner in this league.
His contract with the Redskins shows that he is now getting deserved recognition, and his importance to this team will only increase in the short-term with Bashaud Breeland out for several weeks with an injury.
