Nobody knows what’s up with the Week 1 statuses of wide receivers Alshon Jeffery and Eddie Royal due to John Fox’s strange desire to keep everything hidden, but whatever the case, Royal is poised to have a big role in the Adam Gase-run Bears offense.

Royal caught 62 passes for 778 yards and seven touchdowns last season for the San Diego Chargers after pulling in eight touchdowns in the 2013 season. I highly doubt he’ll be able to replicate the touchdowns, but considering the fact that he signed a three-year deal worth $15 million with $10 million in guaranteed money, 70 receptions could be his floor as the team’s No. 2 receiver with Kevin White’s season in doubt as he sits on the reserve/PUP.

Martellus Bennett and Matt Forte earned a ridiculous amount of targets with Marc Trestman running the show last year, but the Bears offense should be more aggressive, less vanilla, and more effective in 2015, assuming the former Denver Broncos offensive coordinator isn’t as overly focused on preventing Jay Cutler from using his arm strength.
