Indianapolis Colts OLB Sio Moore

Indianapolis Colts GM Ryan Grigson has been on the completely wrong side of two big trades, dealing away star pass rusher Jerry Hughes for the thoroughly underwhelming Kelvin Sheppard and shipping off a first-round pick to the Cleveland Browns for “can’t see and don’t care” running back Trent Richardson.

I’d like to think that the Colts got the better end of the deal this time around, sending a mere sixth-round pick to Reggie McKenzie and the Oakland Raiders for outside linebacker Sio Moore, who completely fell out of favor with the new coaching staff after recording 89 tackles in 2014 and a combined eight sacks in his first two seasons.

Moore is a hyper-athletic edge defender who can provide the Colts with a real pass rushing spark, and the former third-round pick out of UConn should have earned the Raiders more than a meager sixth-round selection. He makes mistakes and needs to do a better job of keeping his head in the game, but he’s been productive in his first two seasons and has the tools to be an impact player at OLB with Trent Cole and Robert Mathis ahead of him.
