Running Backs to Trade For

Frank Gore – Indianapolis Colts

The Colts offense did not look good on Sunday. Luckily for Andrew Luck owners, the quarterback was able to produce a decent fantasy day. Not so for Frank Gore. The veteran managed only 31 yards on 8 carries as his team fell behind and was unable to ever catch back up. Gore should be the Colts top rusher this season, and will benefit from the “Peyton Manning Effect” playing with star passer Andrew Luck.

C.J. Anderson – Denver Broncos

Speaking of the Peyton Manning Effect, it was nowhere to be seen in Week 1. The entire Denver offense struggled, C.J. Anderson included. I’m not scared of Ronnie Hillman‘s better production, as I don’t think Hillman has what it takes to be an every-down back. Most fantasy owners will be smart enough to hold on to Anderson, but if you can get him for cheap, do it.

Latavius Murray – Oakland Raiders

Another offense that did not look good on Sunday was Oakland’s. Nobody was successful, and Latavius Murray couldn’t find his rhythm, despite averaging 4.4 yards per carry. I think Marcel Reece‘s 2 receiving touchdowns were a fluke, and they were scores that may normally go to Murray. He could be a player you could get cheaply early in the seasons, as fantasy owners may have memories of holding on to Darren McFadden throughout his many years in Oakland.

Justin Forsett – Baltimore Ravens

There was nothing exciting offensively in the Baltimore-Denver game on Sunday, and Justin Forsett never got going. He should be a top-15 running back going forward though, and your league-mates may be ready to sell low on the Ravens back.

Running Backs to Trade Away

Bishop Sankey – Tennessee Titans

I don’t think the Titans offense will be as stellar as it was on Sunday throughout the season, and I also don’t think Bishop Sankey is a very good running back. He won’t be the No. 3 running back in fantasy on a weekly basis, so get rid of him while you can. You probably didn’t draft him as a starter anyway.

DeMarco Murray – Philadelphia Eagles

Murray’s 13 fantasy points and No. 11 position among running backs were deceptively good, as he had the same number of offensive touches (12) as Darren Sproles, and only 6 more than Ryan Matthews. It appears that Philadelphia may actually spend the ball around among their running backs, and as long as all three are healthy, fantasy success will likely depend on touchdowns, which are unreliable. Let’s not forget that Murray had only 9 yards on 8 carries.. he’s missing that Dallas offensive line. Get rid of him now after his 2-touchdown game inflated his fantasy numbers.

Danny Woodhead – San Diego Chargers

Woodhead’s two touchdowns threw him into the top-five among running backs, but I don’t expect him to have any fantasy relevance in any leagues but PPR leagues for the rest of the season. If you can get anything for Danny Woodhead, go ahead and trade him away

DeAngelo Williams – Pittsburgh Steelers

Everyone knows that Williams isn’t going to see many carries once Le’Veon Bell comes back, so this may be a hard one to sell. However, some people will see his stats from Week 1 and think he is going to see a heavier workload than he will. If you can get anything for Williams, do it now while he has some value, or you’ll end up dropping him in two weeks anyway.
