2) Play disciplined football
There was nothing more disappointing from Week 1 than the way the Minnesota Vikings played. It was sloppy, undisciplined football.
In the NFL you have to play like professionals and execute on each and every play. The Vikings looked like a Pop Warner imitation of a professional football team last Sunday.
The Detroit Lions aren’t a pushover team. They will not allow a team playing sloppy football to walk all over them. They are capable of taking adverting of mistakes and their offense is powerful enough to put points on the board on any drive. The Vikings have to keep it tight against them.
Last week the Vikings looked like they had some communication issues, some players looked completely out of the loop, and came out especially flat.
Week 2 should be a complete turnaround. This is a team with the ability to really compete and they are expected to execute on each and every play.
Teddy Bridgewater needs to be more decisive with the football and needs to keep scanning downfield. The offensive line needs to improve their blocking, especially at opening holes for the running game. The receivers need to be on point with their routes and need to keep the ball moving forward.
Last week was an ugly game. Expect head coach Mike Zimmer to get this unit back on point so they can execute each and every play.
If they are the more disciplined team, they can beat the Lions. If they come out like they did against the 49ers then it will be tremendously difficult for the Vikings to win it.
