How do the Patriots keep doing this? They find these guys seemingly from out of nowhere to become major contributors to their team. After two weeks of play, Dion Lewis looks like a great option at the running back position for the Patriots.

Following up his impressive play in Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Lewis arguably looked even better this week, and against a much tougher defensive opponent.

The Patriots were not expected to be able to run the ball much against the Bills’ feared defensive front. However, Lewis was able to make a difference on the ground in his limited opportunities, carrying the ball seven times for 40 yards including a six-yard touchdown late in the first quarter to give the Patriots their first lead, that they would never relinquish.

Lewis has been able to find a niche as the Patriots’ new receiving back. Even more impressive than his work on the ground, Lewis has become a strong option for Brady as a receiver. Lewis continued his success in the passing game, catching six passes for 98 yards on Sunday. His biggest play came late in the first half when Lewis took a pass on second and 20 for a gain of 40 with Patriots deep in their own territory.

Lewis is a shifty player who has shown the ability to make defenders miss with ease. It is not all positive however, as Lewis did have another fumble in this game, but his impact on the Patriots’ offense is obvious. Lewis is a talented player who is clearly making a difference in New England.
