This season, no wide receiver has been more of a surprise than Arizona’s old dog, Larry Fitzgerald. He was supposed to be done. John Brown and Michael Floyd were supposed to supplant him as Carson Palmer’s go-to receivers.
But Fitz won’t have any of that—not yet.
Through three games, the 12-year veteran leads all receivers with five touchdowns and a 155.8 Wide Receiver Rating, the latter stat according to Pro Football Focus.
He is off to the best start of his career at age 32 largely because of Arizona’s quarterback play.
Palmer is the healthiest he has been in years, and he is playing at an elite level. The connection he and Fitz have right now rivals any quarterback/receiver tandem in the league.
Rams cornerback Trumaine Johnson has played well this season. Given he is the same size as Fitzgerald with similar athleticism, the two should battle it out more than a few times on Sunday.
