DE Ziggy Ansah
Clearly the team’s best source of pass rushing power, third-year standout Ziggy Ansah is currently the only player on the Lions with multiple sacks on the season. The team will need him to take full advantage of a rocky Seahawks offensive line this week, because he’s the only person the ‘Hawks can truly fear in a one-on-one matchup. Ansah hasn’t been nearly as explosive this season with Ndamukong Suh no longer on the squad, but he’s still been pretty darn good.
Russell Wilson is back on form after shredding the Chicago Bears weak defense last week, and the Lions awful 8.0 net yards per attempt allowed on the season is an indicator that they haven’t been much better through the air. Wilson is the type of player who shines in marquee matchups, and the best way to put a damper on his stats is by finding ways to put pressure on him. Teryl Austin can dial up blitzes with the best of them, but ultimately Ansah’s work in the passing game will be key.
