No. 3: Minnesota Vikings
Heading into the 2014 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings offense featured no future quarterback (they addressed it later), Adrian Peterson (who would miss the season due to off-the-field issues) and a receiving corps comprised of Greg Jennings, Cordarrelle Patterson and Jarius Wright as the top three options. In fact, the group was so bad that the Vikings “stole” Charles Johnson off the Cleveland Browns practice squad in September, and he emerged as one of their top receiving options when it was all said and done at the end of the year.
In the first round of that draft, the Vikings opted to take linebacker Anthony Barr out of UCLA with the No. 9 selection—so he would have been replaced by Beckham Jr. in this scenario. Later in the first round, the Vikings traded back into the No. 32 position to take their quarterback of the future—Teddy Bridgewater.
Fast forward to now, how good would the duo of Bridgewater and Beckham Jr. look for the Vikings?
Now, this isn’t to knock Barr — he has been a good player early in his career. But with Peterson back and Bridgewater looking like a Top 15 quarterback who could creep into the Top 10 one day, the Vikings offense would be very potent heading into year two of the Bridgewater era with Beckham Jr. as part of that offense.
