I will be 100 percent honest and say that I was not personally happy with Chip Kelly’s selection of Jordan Hicks for the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2015 NFL Draft. At the time, it did not make sense to me when you already traded for Kiko Alonso, have Mychal Kendricks, and re-signed DeMeco Ryans to a deal.
However, I do not know why I would ever second-guess Chip Kelly because Hicks has been a stud this year. Not just as for a rookie, but for a starting linebacker in the NFL.
Before Week 6, Pro Football Focus had Hicks as the fourth-highest rated linebacker in the entire NFL. He has been a need for the defense because the two starters are currently hurt. Hicks has stepped in, stepped up, and earned himself a spot on this list of Eagles players who have turned this defense into something special.
Season stats: 37 total tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for a loss, 2 pass deflection, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble, and 3 fumble recoveries.
