If you are a Gates owner and do not own Green, stop reading this article and pick him up off your waiver wire right now. With a 4:05 p.m. start on Sunday, the best way to combat a game-time decision with Gates is to own Green—especially given how bad the Oakland defense is against tight ends.
With Gates out the first four games of the season, Green put together some solid performances in the three games he played in. He had five receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown against Detroit, five receptions for 47 yards against Cincinnati and four receptions for 53 yards and a touchdown against Cleveland. Even with Gates back, Green caught five passes for 50 yards against Pittsburgh and three passes for 35 yards and a touchdown last week against Green Bay.
In my fantasy PPR fantasy league on ESPN, Green is the No. 10 overall tight end on the season—so this pickup is a no brainer. If you are a daily fantasy player, Green is carrying a $2,900 price tag on DraftKings this week, so if you have to swap him in for Gates at the last minute—check out your lineup to see if an $1,100 upgrade could impact your lineup elsewhere in a big way.
