Being owned already in 95 percent of ESPN leagues, Witten probably isn’t hanging out on your waiver wire to be added in your regular fantasy league. If you were smart enough to have both Witten and Gates on your roster, bravo. With a 4:25 p.m. start against the New York Giants on Sunday, Witten is the second best form of insurance aside from Green you could have right now.
On the season, Witten has caught 30 passes for 271 yards and two touchdowns, but he has been on a downswing his last two weeks. After starting the season with 21 receptions and two touchdowns in his first two games, Witten’s production has slowed with Brandon Weeden at the helm.
Well, both of those things should change in Week 7—as Matt Cassel takes over at quarterback and the New York Giants boast one of the worst defenses against tight ends. Though three of their four touchdowns given up to tight ends came in Week 1, there are plenty of receptions to go around—as four is the least amount they have given up this season in a game.
For the DFS players out there, if you want to keep your lineup composed as is until the last minute, Witten is your guy to have waiting in the wings. At a price of $4,800, you will not have to worry about trying to figure out a way to come up with extra money to replace Gates at that time of the day.
