With the tight end position being pretty bleak for regular scoring after the Top 10, Walker being No. 15 doesn’t exactly give owners real hope on a week to week basis (trust me, I know thanks to owning him in my big league). However, he is coming off eight receptions for 97 yards against the Miami Dolphins, and is facing an Atlanta Falcons team that has struggled against tight ends this year.
Just how bad has Atlanta been against the position? Benjamin Watson of the New Orleans Saints (who even knew he was still in the league?) had a huge game against them last week. When it was all said and done, the Falcons gave up 13 receptions for 165 yards and a touchdown to the Saints tight ends—with the majority going to Watson.
Prior to last week, though the Falcons had not given up over 15 points in a game to tight ends—they were susceptible to giving up touchdowns, with three in their first five games and four total on the season. So, chances are pretty good Walker will find paydirt on Sunday.
Though I’m not predicting a massive game for Walker, his $3,900 price tag on DraftKings against a favorable opponent make him a solid replacement option if you do not want to take a chance on Gates missing the game. With a 1 p.m. start, like Kelce, you will have to decide on Walker early—but it may be worth it.
