The Minnesota Vikings (4-2) beat the Detroit Lions (1-6) 28-19 in Week 7, completing the sweep of the Lions in the NFC North for 2015.

It was a big divisional victory for the Vikings, helping the team to keep pace with other NFC playoff contenders. With the Green Bay Packers on a bye and remaining unbeaten at 6-0, it was especially important for the Vikings to rise to the occasion and win a game against a team they were expected to beat.
The Vikings continue to show that they have the talent to compete. Even with a win over the underwhelming Lions, the Vikings roster is showing that it can step up to the plate. Some players in particular continue to impress and a young core of talent for the future is rising to the occasion with each passing week.
With the Vikings seemingly overachieving in just Mike Zimmer’s second year as head coach, every week is an opportunity to show progress. This is especially important at key positions that are needed to make plays as the Vikes compete to be considered among the best teams in the NFC.
Roster evaluation for teams like the Vikings is critical as the season goes on. The team is trending upward overall and in order to stay that way, players will need to continue to step up.
