3) Limit successful deep shots for the Chicago Bears offense
Jay Cutler is a competent NFL quarterback, even with his turnover tendencies. While the Minnesota Vikings can limit the Chicago Bears offense from relying on star running back Matt Forte simply by keeping the time of possession and score in their favor, Cutler is still capable of making big plays happen through the air.

Cutler has done a decent job with the deep pass so far this season. With no interceptions on deep passes and a 40.9 percent accuracy percentage of deep passes this season (via Pro Football Focus), Cutler is a threat to the Vikings secondary.
The Bears aren’t without receiving targets, either. Alshon Jeffery, Marquess Wilson, and Martellus Bennett are all capable receivers who can make plays both in the shorts, intermediate, and deep passing game.
While a threat, he can still be mitigated. The Vikings have a strong secondary and are capable of limiting quarterbacks who are even better than Cutler. Players like Harrison Smith, Xavier Rhodes, and Terence Newman are all able to keep the wraps on even the most talented receivers in the NFL.
The Minnesota Vikings pass rush is also formidable and can get after the quarterback, helping the secondary and also disrupting the quarterback from getting into a rhythm.
