Player Safety is Key Unless It’s not Profitable

Whether you love him or hate him there’s no denying Richard Sherman is one smart man. A Stanford graduate and one of the best cornerbacks in the game, Sherman is never shy about speaking his mind.  He’s given great quotes about player safety and the dangers of the NFL and he’s right. The NFL is only promoting and touting their “Player Safety” tag line because they want to avoid further lawsuits like the the most recent concussions suits which they spent years denying any correlation.

They talk about improving the safety and health of players yet they want to add more games and they want to have Thursday night games. Has Goodell stepped inside of a locker room after a game or come to visit a team on Mondays to see what the players are going through? Is he even welcomed there? NFL players and bodies take a beating. Look at all of the injuries this year and it’s possible most long term injuries are happening by the continuous punishment these players take. What the NFL says and what they do contradicts itself when it comes to player safety.
