#1 Philip Rivers
Rivers had one of the most talked about games of the season so far. He passed for over 500 yards, threw no interceptions and threw for a couple of touchdown passes. He completed 43 passes which was the second most completions of all time. However the Chargers only scored 20 points which is the lowest total of any quarterback’s team that threw over 40 completions. In fact only Colt McCoy of the Browns led his team to less points than River out of the 19 quarterbacks who completed 40 or more passes in a game.
Next: Who are the most overpaid players?
Rivers leads the league in completions, pass attempts, yards and has the highest completion percentage out of any QB that has thrown over 200 times this year. He’s having a really good year and the Chargers are putting the ball in their best player’s hands.
With numbers this good you’d think the Chargers are primed for a Super Bowl run. The reality is the Chargers could very well have the number overall pick in 2016. At 2-6 they have the second worst record in the NFL and if they draft started tomorrow they would be drafting fourth based on the current standings. When the season is over we won’t be talking about Rivers as a possible MVP, but we’ll gladly give him the MOP award so far this year.
