Finding new mis-matches

What made Lewis so important- beyond just his special moves- to the Patriots was his versatility, because there never seemed to be a player on the opposing defense capable of covering them. He epitomizes how the Patriots use a unique player and spam defenses with him, simply because they have no answer to how well the Pats augment said player’s individual gifts.

Perhaps the Patriots can turn to more twin-TE sets with Gronk and Chandler to find some new ways to generate mis-matches, and they can also do some more things with Amendola and Edelman together. Heck, maybe they find a depth receiver they like in certain sub-packages, or maybe they find a way to use their less-talented backup running backs in the passing game.

Whatever the case, you can trust that Belichick and Josh McDaniels will have other ways of embarrassing defenses from a coaching standpoint, and, as I said before, we have all the evidence in the world that Brady can make it happen. Lewis is a legitimate star, and his season-ending injury constitutes a tough loss for this organization, however, the Pats are undoubtedly a team built to toss aside adversity.
