Running Backs: B

Statistical Leader: Chris Ivory, 138 carries, 544 yards, 3.9 yards per carry, 6 touchdowns

Chris Ivory started the season playing the best football of his life. After four games, he was well in the lead in the NFL in yards per game, averaging well over 100 in the season’s first quarter. Over the last three games, it has come crashing down for him, with an average of 28 yards in each. Ivory has battled hamstring problems, says he is OK, but has not exploded into the line the way he did early, and the New York Jets’ running game has suffered.

Part of it has been the offensive line. They have not been opening the holes of late. Defenses have been stacking the box against them. But the running backs, led by Chris Ivory, have not been getting the job done of late. Nobody has given them very much other than Ivory, so the grade is a “B” based on Ivory’s performance.
