Brandon Marshall
A quarterback’s best friend is a reliable wide receiver. That is what the Jets have in Brandon Marshall. First, he was acquired in one of the greatest steals in team history, simply for a fifth round draft pick. His history on the field is well-documented. Over the last several years, you could count on death, taxes, and 1,000 yards receiving by Brandon Marshall. He has had a history off of the field as well, but to date, that hasn’t been the case in New York.
He has had his share of dropped passes, specifically seven over the first nine games. But the numbers don’t lie, and his numbers have been undeniably huge. Through nine games, Brandon has posted 57 receptions for 753 yards and six touchdowns. He is on pace to fly past 1,000 yards, and will almost certainly post double-digit touchdowns. The New York Jets haven’t boasted a receiver of this magnitude since Al Toon played for the team in the 1980’s.
Besides his own performance, Eric Decker can thank Brandon Marshall for much of his open space. He just makes the entire group better.
Fear not, fans. The New York Jets will stay in the race the rest of the year.
