Week 15: Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Jets

This is a rare Saturday night game for the NFL, and of course after the offensive debacle that was Sunday’s loss to the Packers, the four-win Cowboys now get one day less to prepare for a Jets team that is in the hunt for a Wild Card spot in the AFC.

Great.

Now if you want the Cowboys to gain a Top 5 draft choice, what type of play do you want to see from this team? Myself, I don’t believe the Cowboys will win for all their woes on the offensive side of the ball, but I don’t want to see them completely fold, either.

If the defense is forced to play as much as they did last Sunday in this Saturday night special, they better watch out for Chris Ivory, because the Packers gave the Jets a blueprint for grinding the Cowboys defense … run the football a lot, and then get them with the pass.

Ivory is coming off a game where he had 22 carries for 101 yards, averaging 4.6 yards per carry, including one carry for 32 yards. Ivory hasn’t scored a touchdown since Nov. 29 against the Miami Dolphins.

I know there is a Brandon Marshall vs. Byron Jones matchup to watch for this Saturday, but what draws my interest the most is seeing how the Cowboys defense responds to stopping the running game of the Jets after Green Bay’s Eddie Lacy rushed the ball 24 times for 124 yards, a 5.2 yards per carry average. He also scored one touchdown against the Cowboys.

When this game arrives on Saturday, I’m not expecting great things from the Cowboys. What are your thoughts?
