Andre Branch

Andre Branch’s strip sack, fumble recovery, and touchdown against the Colts was the biggest play of the game and a sure momentum swinger. Branch played his best game in his four year Jaguars career by being a constant disruptive force in the Colts backfield.

However, in four years Branch has only 14 sacks to his name. Hardly anything given how he was taken in the second round of the 2012 draft. Most of Branch’s sacks come off stunts rather than beating a lineman 1 on 1.

The Jaguars drafted Dante Fowler to help rush the pass, but Fowler tore his ACL on the first day of mini-camp. Even with Fowler coming back the Jaguars still need pass-rushers, which is why a guy like Joey Bosa or Robert Nkemdiche makes sense in the draft.

Another reason why Branch will probably be gone after this season is because he was drafted in the Gene Smith era. Current Jaguars GM David Caldwell did not draft the pass-rusher and will likely set his eyes on building the defense this offseason. After every sack Branch is known for doing a windmill dance. He’s going to need to be doing about 10 more this season if he hopes to remain in the black and gold.
