player. 53. The Cleveland Browns’ roster is a mess. They have brought in some fresh blood into the front office who they hope can turn their history of consistently losing around, and Hue Jackson as the new head coach was a strong hire, but it is undoubtedly going to take a ton of work to get this organization back on track.

With the second overall pick, everything is on the table for the Browns. They will scout the quarterback position hard as they continue to look for their franchise signal caller. However, I’m not ready to pencil in a quarterback for them at number two.

Instead, I lean towards the Browns taking the player who many consider to be the best in this draft class; Ohio State defensive lineman Joey Bosa.

Whether the Browns stick with their 3-4 defense or move to a more 4-3 look will depend on who they hire as their new head coach. When it comes to Bosa, it doesn’t really matter which scheme they run, as his skill-set could fit into either one. He is a natural 4-3 defensive end, but he could undoubtedly shine as a 3-4 OLB as well.

Bosa is a talented defender whose game is built on power. He is a strong pass rusher who can get consistent pressure on the quarterback and also make plays against the run. While his strength and obvious power stand out more, Bosa has plenty of speed and quickness to make noise on the outside as well. A talented and technically sound prospect, Bosa is simply a good football player who will make plays.

Selecting Bosa would give the Browns a legitimate talent to build their defense around. There may be more exciting prospects in this draft class, but Bosa is rock-solid, and the Browns need to make sure they find a successful player with this pick.
. DE/OLB. Ohio State.
