David Amerson: Success

Pro Football Focus recognized cornerback David Amerson as the most improved player in 2015 for good reason.

Amerson became an easy target in pass coverage with the Washington Redskins for two seasons (2013-14), leading to his release early in the 2015 season. The Raiders gambled on the third-year cornerback, and the odds worked out in their favor.

The former second-round pick climbed the Raiders’ depth chart into a starting position over cornerback D.J. Hayden.

Amerson set the tone as a physical perimeter defender when necessary, led the team in passes defensed (26) and snagged four interceptions. He’s quietly claimed the title as the No. 1 cornerback in Oakland.
