5. RB Chris Ivory, Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars are doing what they do best, over-paying questionable talent. They signed the 27-year old bruiser to a five year $32 million contract with $10 million of that being guaranteed. I thought running backs, especially powerful ones, are basically useless after their age 30 season. But the Jaguars aren’t like the rest of the NFL, and their unorthodox methods are certainly working.

I know it was hard to take that last sentence seriously.

Chris Ivory is a good back to have on your football team. He runs with explosion and will get yards even if they aren’t there for the taking. I just don’t see the thought process of giving him a deal that would last through his age 32-season, especially a deal that would be worth $32 million when you have a young up and coming back in T.J. Yeldon. If you want him to be your change of pace back, you certainly aren’t paying him like that. I’d love to see what kind of money Yeldon is going to demand when his contract is up after seeing what Ivory got.

Ivory was able to make the Pro Bowl last year. He rushed for just over 1,000 yards but did manage a nice touchdown total with seven on the year.

Ivory is a worn down back who showed a decline in agility as the season progressed, I can only imagine that will get worst as his career moves forward. With plenty of young offensive talent already on the roster, I feel like the money could have been better used maybe on the defensive side of the ball, where they were pitiful in 2015.

Who knows, maybe Jacksonville only over paid this player by a few million instead of the insane amounts we’ve been accustomed too over the years.
