4. Janoris Jenkins (Cornerback) New York Giants

Never would I would have imagined that the Giants would end up on this list. They normally don’t make huge, unwise splashes in free agency yet, here they are. New York signed Janoris Jenkins to a five year $62.5 million contract with $28.8 million guaranteed.

This looks like the front office of the Giants over-compensating. New York had a terrible habit of giving up 4th quarter leads in 2015, yet they now think for some reason splurging in the free agent market will bring them back to the post season. Well, guess again.

The Giants already have one ‘gambling’ player at the corner position in Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. They decided to get a replica of him to put on the opposite side. That’s going to be interesting to watch.

When approached by the media, one of the first things Jenkins said (via Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk) was: “I need to stop being lazy at the end of games.” Wow, yet the Giants still deemed him worth $62.5 million. This could be number-one on the list but the Giants also made some other interesting moves (spoiler alert).

Jenkins is known for his big play ability, but just like the ‘rookie-sensation’ of the Kansas City Chiefs Marcus Peters, everybody seems to forget the ugly touchdowns they both give up on a pretty consistent basis.

The North Alabama product has also played in all 16 games only once in his career. To throw on top of that is a liability in run support at times. Although, he has been able to come up with 10 interceptions in his four year career while also scoring five touchdowns, so some credit is due.

One of the few teams I actually thought had a great strategy toward free agency has officially disappointed me.
