Jacksonville Jaguars In Win-Now Mode
By Matt LaPan
The Jacksonville Jaguars find themselves in win-now mode following an extremely active offseason. With plenty of new defensive additions, Jacksonville has added pressure going into 2016.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have been one of the most active teams in the NFL this offseason. They have fired defensive coordinator Bob Babich and extended head coach Gus Bradley through the 2017 season.

They then turned their attention to the roster by releasing Zane Beadles, Chris Clemons and Sergio Brown while adding Malik Jackson, Chris Ivory, Tashaun Gipson and Prince Amukamara before the 2016 NFL Draft.
Jacksonville did not just focus on the front seven this offseason, they also added two starting caliber players in the defensive backfield – Tashaun Gipson and Jalen Ramsey.
Gipson, a free agent signing from the Cleveland Browns, will bring a veteran presence and a heavy player to the starting safety role. He is more than willing to come down in run support, but still has the range, ability and ball skills to have notched 14 interceptions in four NFL seasons.
Along with Gipson, the Jaguars drafted defensive back Jalen Ramsey with the fifth overall selection of the draft. Ramsey is considered a “can’t miss” prospect by many, showing size, speed, ball skills and athleticism. Ramsey could become a starting cornerback or a starting safety from day one, making him an extremely valuable piece.
There is one problem with Ramsey, however, as he has a partially torn meniscus according to multiple reports, including NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport (via NFL.com). It’s a problem that could sideline him through the start of his rookie season.
If Ramsey is able to play from the beginning of the season he could be the piece that benefits most from the revamped front seven – collecting interceptions with his ball hawking skills and becoming a true impact.

With all of these pieces now in place and a young offense continuing to grow, it is time for the Jacksonville Jaguars to win now. They are in a vastly improved AFC South, but have the offense, defense and coaching that has the ability to lead them to an improved season in 2016.
