Denico Autry on PUP List

The Raiders placed defensive lineman Denico Autry on the physically unable to perform list.

According to CSNBayArea reporter Scott Bair, Autry wore a brace on his hand, wrist or forearm:

The third–year defensive lineman emerged as a decent contributor last year. Ironically, the buzz around Autry started in the previous offseason, and he continued to earn the coaching staff’s trust throughout the preseason in 2015. He played in 14 games, started in eight, and logged three sacks during the regular season.

The severity of Autry’s injury remain unclear, but second-round pick Jihad Ward will probably take more snaps with the starters, just as he did at OTAs and minicamp in June.

Autry’s injury puts him in a potential intense training camp battle with the rookie. Last month without pads, Ward impressed Del Rio, so he may take the third-year pro’s roster spot in the near future. Preseason competition will separate the two.
