Green Bay Packers: Latest Buzz at Training Camp

Brett Hundley with the first team
While Rodgers was shredding the defense with the scout team, it was his backup Brett Hundley who was running the first-team offense. Hundley also didn’t play in the preseason opener against the Browns, as he was dealing with an ankle injury.
With Rodgers’ status uncertain for the game on Thursday, Hundley is in line to start against the Raiders. In his second practice back from the injury, Hundley did a very good job with the first-team offense.
Hundley was drafted in the fifth round by the Packers in 2015 from UCLA. Hundley has a lot of talent for a fifth round pick but needs time to grow as a quarterback. Getting first-team reps for Hundley can be huge for his development. Also, getting a start in the preseason against the Raiders will be a good indicator of how far along that development is.
