Michael Bennett has had a rough go of it lately with keeping things civil with his teammates. For the second time this month Bennett was tossed out of practice for fighting with a teammate. The first instance occurred in a small squabble with Seahawks guard Mark Glowinski. The previous incident was far tamer and involved some major pushing and shoving. Although he was removed from practice, it should’ve been enough to teach Bennett some manners.

It’s been three weeks since the first bout of Bennett drama graced the practice field, but on Sunday he was at it again. This time, it was far more serious.

During one-on-one passing drills, Bennet was facing offensive lineman Bradley Sowell. Things quickly got heated to the point of an all-out brawl on the ground.

Offensive line coach Tom Cable is frustrated with the immaturity displayed by his players. He was adamant that both players need to maintain control of their emotions. “If you do it in a game you are going to be thrown out and they are going to take your money,” said Cable (via Bob Condotta). “So a good lesson for both he (Sowell) and Mike. Both guys are wrong, they’ve got to learn to do right, and they will do that.”

Bennett maintains he was standing up for a fellow defensive lineman. Sowell had thrown defensive end Josh Shirley to the ground in the drill prior to the scuffle, and just one snap later Bennett came after Sowell.

Earlier in August, when asked where the line is between passion and aggression, Bennett told the Seattle Times (via Bob Condotta),

"“Every great defensive player I ever knew, they were passionate and they always crossed the line. That’s what you’ve got to do to be a great player; you’ve got to walk that line. That is just what it is about.”"

Bennett is in the midst of his fourth season with the Seahawks. He’s coming off of a career year in which he had 33 tackles with 19 assists and ten sacks. Bennett needs to save his “passion” for Thursday when Seattle hosts the Dallas Cowboys at home in their third preseason match of 2016.
