The NFL Spin Zone ‘Countdown to Kickoff’ series continues with 11 days until kickoff, profiling Philadelphia Eagles quarterback No. 11, Carson Wentz.

Today is August 28, 2016, which means there are exactly 11 days until the NFL season kicks off.

As we wait for the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers to kickoff the NFL season, the team at NFL Spin Zone has decided to profile a player whose number is associated with the amount of days until that first kickoff.

With that in mind, there are 11 days until football, so I will profile Philadelphia Eagles quarterback, No. 11 Carson Wentz.

The Philadelphia Eagles, mainly Howie Roseman, made a lot of aggressive moves this offseason. Roseman worked his magic and was able to trade two big contracts of two underwhelming players. Those two trades seemed to be big at the time, but before the 2016 NFL Draft, the Eagles and Roseman made a franchise altering decision.

They decided to make a trade that will transform their franchise.

By making this trade with the Cleveland Browns, the Eagles were set on taking a quarterback. That quarterback was FCS quarterback, North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz.

Roseman will forever be tied to Wentz, however if he is able to progress further from what he showed in college; Roseman and company should be just fine.

Wentz may not have played at Alabama, but he did play at the “Alabama” of FCS schools, North Dakota State. NDSU has won the National Championship the last five years, with Wentz winning two of those titles as the starting quarterback, showing he is a winner.

While winning those two National Championships, Wentz flashed on film with his impressive arm strength and accuracy. As you dug deeper into his game, you could see why I had him ranked as the best player in the entire 2016 NFL Draft.

He has an amazing ability to throw the ball with elite accuracy and anticipation. When you add the arm strength with that throwing ability, you just see how great of an NFL quarterback he can be. Along with the impressive arm, Wentz stands at 6’5″ and weighs in around 237 pounds. He is a monster, but was still one of the most athletic quarterbacks entering the draft.

After breaking down all of his throws from college, this was my overall impression of Wentz in my scouting report:

"Overall Impression: Wentz checks off a lot of the big questions you have when looking at a quarterback coming out of college, however, he also checks off some of the ones that are not good. He has the size, athletic ability, and arm talent to succeed in the NFL. If you can look past his level of competition and his wrist injury you will see that Wentz has no ceiling when it comes to potential. He can be a star in the league and will make a team very happy if they draft him. Wentz can, and will, be a franchise quarterback and the face of a franchise. He is a can’t-miss prospect at the quarterback position."

The Eagles selected him with the No. 2 overall pick, however they have Sam Bradford as their current starter. It looks as if Wentz will have a redshirt season in the NFL to get acclimated, but after that, ‘the keys to the car will be given to him.’

In his first preseason action, Wentz flashed the greatness he could bring to the Eagles, while also flashing he is a rookie. He also suffered a rib injury that has him sidelined, but he may be able to return for the last preseason game.

The Countdown Continues: No. 12 Aaron Rodgers

Time will tell if Wentz will turn into the superstar I believe he can be, though he does bring hope to Philadelphia. In 11 days, No. 11 will start his first NFL season patiently waiting for his time to be the starter of the Eagles.  Bradford has a history of being injured, so even though he isn’t starting Week 1, we could see Wentz in 2016.
