His first touchdown pass was nice, but Carson Wentz threw a beautiful deep ball on his second.

The start of the Carson Wentz era is Philly was solid. It saw the rookie quarterback drive down the field on the opening drive, going 4-5 (one drop) for 57 yards and a beautiful touchdown pass.

Since his first career touchdown pass, former North Dakota State signal-caller has cooled off. He hasn’t played bad, but you can see the signs of being a rookie. However, the Eagles pass-catchers haven’t helped as their have been a handful of drops throughout the game.

Luckily for the Eagles, their young gun-slinger has continued to play his best, while getting hit a lot. A big question was whether his ribs would hold up, and they have so far. He has taken a beating, but it looks like he may be getting the last laugh.

His first touchdown pass was on the money, but he somehow outdid himself on the second one.

The rookie is looking like a seasoned vet here on this throw. His head coach, Doug Pederson, shows the trust he has in his young player by allowing him to go deep.

There is a lot to look at on this play.

One, the pass was caught by 2015 first round pick Nelson Agholor. The significance behind that is many have written him off after a terrible rookie season. So, it is nice to see him make a great catch to get six points. What makes the play even better, he beats one of the better cornerbacks in the NFL, Joe Haden, on the play.

All of this is great, but the throw from Wentz is what makes the play. It is perfectly timed, perfectly thrown.

Cue the Alicia Keys music. This. Kid. Is on FIRE!
