Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio didn’t hold back in trolling ESPN after his two-point conversion call led to a victory over the Saints

The Oakland Raiders found themselves in a shootout on Sunday in Week 1, taking on the New Orleans Saints. In a game of that type, it figured that it would come down to one big decision. As it turns out, that one big decision came from Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio. Late in the fourth quarter after scoring a touchdown to go down by only one point, Del Rio got gutsy. He called for the two-point conversion to go for the win.

Raiders quarterback Derek Carr found Amari Cooper just at the goal line for Oakland to put them ahead by one. With under a minute left on the clock, even Drew Brees couldn’t complete the ensuing drive. Thus, the Raiders came away with the win thanks to the Jack Del Rio call to go for two.

However, it was after the game when people were still somewhat questioning the decision. In fact, ESPN Stats and Information tweeted out that it was actually in Oakland’s favor statistically to kick the extra-point in that situation. Del Rio saw this, though, and delivered an absolutely classic troll and burn of the Worldwide Leader.

Here’s what he had to say.

Good thing, indeed.

Sure, there’s always the chance that Del Rio’s Raiders still could have picked up the win without going for two. However, he wasn’t about to try and grind it out. He made a big-time call and it paid dividends. And I think his response makes it safe to say he’s secure in that call and would make it 100 times out of 100.
