Well that got ugly fast. The Dallas Cowboys took a huge dip in these rankings because they simply looked like a bad team on Sunday. Sure, looking at the score one could deduce that they played rather well and even had a chance to win. That’s not the case though.

Their highly touted offensive line was called for way too many penalties and opened no holes for rookie Ezekiel Elliott. He scored a touchdown, but looked like he was in over his head with his 2.5 yards per carry average.

The good news for fans is that rookie quarterback Dak Prescott didn’t look like a fourth-round pick. He was calm and poised and played well at times. The bad news? He couldn’t move the ball down field and had a lot of short throws, much like what they had last year with Brandon Weeden, Matt Cassel, and Kellen Moore.

Head coach Jason Garrett and his staff keep trotting out old school football where they control the clock with safe plays all day. Unfortunately they don’t have the talent to finish those drives with more than a field goal. Also, their defense may be one of the worst in the NFL. They can’t come up with big stops, a problem for years under d-coordinator Rod Marinelli.

They may also have a huge issue with Dez Bryant. Ever since the receiver signed his big money deal last season he has been simply awful. On Sunday, he caught one pass for eight yards and bobbled a would-be touchdown pass which could have changed the course of the game.
. . . Dallas Cowboys. 28. player. 123
