Brandon Marshall Injury Update: Jets Receiver Hurts Knee
New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall went down with a scary looking leg injury on Thursday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills
Brandon Marshall may well be the most important part of the New York Jets offense. As he was in 2015, Marshall provides so much flexibility for the offense and Ryan Fitzpatrick. Not only is he capable of making plays anywhere on the field as a receiver, but the attention that he commands from opposing secondaries also frees up the rest of the receiving core to operate. That’s all a big reason why the scene on Thursday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills was so frightening.
Early in the second quarter in this AFC East matchup, Marshall made a catch where he beasted Bills cornerback Ronald Darby. As he went to try and turn up field, though, Darby reached out and grabbed what he could. What he got was the facemask of the Jets receiver. Subsequently, Marshall’s leg got twisted up very unnaturally beneath him as he went to the ground.
Marshall was on the ground for quite a bit before walking off the field under his own power. Even still, he was in obvious pain throughout the trip to the sideline and once he got there.
Here’s a look at the injury:
Brandon Marshall tried to shake it off on the sideline, but it was to no avail. As reported from the game broadcast by Tracy Wolfson, he tried to shake it off but determined it was no good. He then was shown walking back to the locker room.
It’s too soon to know the severity of the injury, but it definitely doesn’t look good watching the video. For his sake and the sake of the Jets offense, let’s hope it’s not as bad as it appears to be.
Update: 9:29 p.m. ET
After going to the locker room, Marshall came back out to the sideline to join the Jets. Still no word on if he will return to the game or not.
Update: 9:31 p.m. ET
The veteran receiver is now back on the field and making catches. If he’s in any pain, he’s playing through it on Thursday night.
