The Miami Dolphins don’t have the best of days when they go on the road to face the New England Patriots, and tight end Martellus Bennett is making sure that tradition continues.

I bet teams will start calling for New England Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in the 2017 offseason, because he’s following up his win over the Arizona Cardinals with a display of Tom Brady-like precision against a subpar Miami Dolphins pass defense.

Garoppolo sits at 9-for-10 with 13.6 yards per pass attempt, two touchdowns, and no interceptions against a helpless Dolphins team that is currently down 14-0.

After hooking up with Danny Amendola for a touchdown, Garoppolo hit new tight end Martellus Bennett with a 20-yard touchdown up the seam.

When the Patriots traded for Bennett, we knew that this team had a chance to field the greatest tight end duo in the NFL, and Bennett’s presence has allowed the Pats to take things slowly with Gronkowski, who is sporting a hamstring injury.

Bennett did not do much in his Week 1 outing against the Cardinals, catching just three passes for 14 yards on four targets. He showed up well as a blocker, though, and that could have easily been his role in this week’s game.

Already a fan favorite in New England, Bennett showed why he once caught 90 passes in the Chicago Bears offense, pulling off a smart route to split two Dolphins defenders for a touchdown. Garoppolo didn’t have much to do, because Bennett already toasted Miami’s linebackers and rising standout safety Isa Abdul-Quddus.

As of right now, Bennett has just two targets, but he’s caught them both for a team-high 46 yards.
