There may not have been a more important Week 2 game in Minnesota Vikings history then this one tonight versus the Green Bay Packers.

Final. 14. 49. 17. 60

With no Teddy Bridgewater and this time no Adrian Peterson for the better part of the 2nd half, the Minnesota Vikings willed their way to victory over their border rival Green Bay Packers.

Acclimated to the system for just two weeks, Sam Bradford masterfully picked apart the Packers defense. The former No. 1 overall pick relied heavily on getting the ball to one of the best up and coming explosive players in the league, Stefon Diggs; especially when it mattered most.

Aaron Rodgers looked to be up to the same ol’ tricks on their scoring drives, but yielded too many mistakes, especially a fumble lost by Rodgers during the fourth quarter. Nearly nobody in the NFL can shut down the Packers franchise quarterback, but it seems as if Mike Zimmer has found some sort of kink in the chain so to speak to slow Rodgers down.

More from Green Bay Packers

Fortunately enough for Green Bay this is only the second week of the season, and it was on the road. Plenty of football yet to be played by both teams, in what could be a closely contested battle for the NFC North crown.

Minnesota awaits word on whether or not they will have to move on without their former MVP of a running back, which would be a devastating blow moving forward after already being down a signal caller.

Three Stars

Sam Bradford, Vikings – What can you say about a quarterback making his debut for team he’s been with for a little more than two weeks? 22-of-31 for 286 yards and two touchdowns, no turnovers, and all while taking some gruesome shots. Bradford really showed a different kind a toughness tonight that not many haven’t seen.

Stefon Diggs, Vikings – The secret is out, teams from this point on will have to key on Diggs. Another impressive stat-line with nine catches for 182 yards and a touchdown; Diggs was the man for each key situation the Vikings were in, and made the plays when they needed one.

Jordy Nelson, Packers – Even though he and Rodgers seem a bit out of touch till, Nelson still bailed Rodgers out on numerous occasions and showed glimpses of himself from years past. Five catches for 73 yards and a touchdown is a solid showing, things will only get better from here for Nelson.
