Carson Palmer Injury Update: Cardinals Quarterback Has Possible Concussion

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer was taken to the locker room with a possible concussion in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Rams

Carson Palmer has struggled thus far in the 2016 NFL season for the Arizona Cardinals. Coming off arguably the best season of his career in 2015, he simply hadn’t been on target often for the first three games of the new campaign. However, there’s no denying that Palmer is far and away the best option that Bruce Arians and the Cardinals have at quarterback. Unfortunately, they might not have a choice but to look elsewhere after the end of their Week 4 game—for a short time at least.

With the Cardinals again shockingly struggling against an inferior opponent in the Los Angeles Rams, Palmer took a big hit that seemed to shake him up. Upon replay, it was clear that he went down and hit his head on the turf. Given the head injuries that the NFL is trying to limit, it didn’t look great at all.

Soon after, Arizona fans saw the what they feared happen as Carson Palmer was taken back to the locker room. Per the team’s official Twitter account, he was taken back to be evaluated for a concussion:

No matter how much he’s struggled this season, that’s the last thing the Cardinals wanted. That left Drew Stanton coming into the game in relief of Palmer to try and lead a game-winning drive. No offense to Stanton, but that’s a situation that the team would want Palmer in 10 times out of 10. And that was the right feeling as Stanton threw an interception on the drive after dinking-and-dunking for a few yards.
