Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett proved beyond shadow of a doubt that he is the worst at high-fives in the NFL
Jason Garrett is a fine NFL head coach. Some Dallas Cowboys fans and critics will say he coaches scared, which is fair at times. Others will say that he has questionable decision-making on occasion. That is also a fair criticism of the former NFL quarterback. However, he’s ostensibly proven that he can win games and is at least mildly competent at coaching football.

When it comes to giving out high-fives, though? Not so much.
After the Cowboys earned a huge interception against Blaine Gabbert and the San Francisco 49ers in Week 4, Garrett and the rest of his team were amped about the big play. Not only did they have a fourth-quarter lead, but now they had the rock back. So as everyone went to the sideline to celebrate, the head coach was looking to congratulate and celebrate with his players. All he wanted to do was give them high fives. Instead, he whiffed on the first one. And the second. Finally, he completed the whiff trifecta, missing the third as well:
How can anyone look their coach in the eyes after he misses three consecutive high-fives. Is it possible to not respond, “That’s a great play-call, but you can’t even high-five dudes?” I really don’t think so.
Even still, the Cowboys and Garrett capitalized on the turnover to go down the long field and kick a field goal. That gave them the seven-point lead late in the game on the road. No word yet on if he converted on any of those subsequent high-fives after the three points.
