Jets at Steelers Recap, Highlights, Final Score, More
The New York Jets couldn’t put the ball in the end zone again as they fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field.
Another week and another loss for the New York Jets. The Jets entered this game 1-3, desperate for a win, and although they didn’t turn the ball over, they couldn’t turn drives into points.
The Pittsburgh Steelers were dominant on offense—period. The Jets allowed another long touchdown, this time 72 yards to Sammie Coates. But despite that, the game was close in the first half. The defense kept the Jets in the game and the touchdown to Brandon Marshall actually put them ahead in the game. The problem for the Jets was the fact that they only scored one touchdown. Two deep drives turned into field goals in the first half and that can’t happen against Ben Roethlisberger and friends. Turn those drives into touchdowns and the momentum of the game is completely different.
In the second half, the Jets couldn’t get anything done, and the Steelers could. For example, the Jets took over early in the third quarter, down by one point. A long drive for a score would have changed the game. A meek three-and-out occurred, the Steelers put up a field goal on the next drive, and off they went.
Rothelisberger saw no pressure from the Jets’ vaunted defensive line, and couldn’t miss. Going 34-47 is about as good of a day as a quarterback is going to have, and four touchdowns just led the dominance. The Steelers put up 436 of offense, proving once again that the Jets’ defense is not what it is cracked up to be.
With the 31-13 victory, the Steelers move to 4-1, and the Jets drop to 1-4, needing to get back to the drawing board quickly.
Three Stars
Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers — Big Ben was his usual dominant self, going 34-of-47 for 380 yards and four touchdowns.
Sammie Coates, Steelers — Despite suffering a laceration to the webbing of his hand which caused drops, Coates had a huge game. He caught six passes for 139 yards and two touchdowns, including an early 72 yard strike, adding to the long list of long scores the Jets have allowed.
Brandon Marshall, Jets — Despite his weekly drop, Marshall did put up a big game with eight catches for 114 yards and the Jets’ only touchdown.
