New York Jets vs Arizona Cardinals

Week 6 comes to a close on Monday night as the New York Jets head to the desert to face the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals enter the game underachieving with a 2-3 record. However, they did post a win last week without Carson Palmer over the San Francisco 49ers, 33-21. New York enters the game with their season on the brink of falling apart. Last week, they lost to Pittsburgh, 31-13, dropping their record to 1-4.

Arizona gets their quarterback this week, with Carson Palmer back from concussion protocol. We know how good these guys are with Palmer leading the way. When healthy, he is one of the best in the business and has played some of the best football in his career with Arizona. Add the weapons on the outside with David Johnson running the football and the Cardinals are a tough out any time they hit the field.

Gang Green is looking to turn things round, but they have to do so without their number two-man on the outside. Eric Decker has been placed on injured reserve, announced by the team on Wednesday. Decker is a top route-runner and his absence forces New York to rely on some unproven players alongside Brandon Marshall.

Keys To Victory

For the Jets, the key is to finish drives and control the line of scrimmage. On offense, it means ball control. The high-powered Arizona offense cannot score if they aren’t on the field. They have moved the ball fairly well, even in the losses, from 20-yard line to 20-yard line, but have not been the red zone presence they were in 2015. Get the ball down there and score. On defense, they are going to have to get to Carson Palmer in order to give the struggling secondary a chance.

For Arizona, challenge New York with downfield passes early and often. They have given up a long pass for a score in every game so far this year. Even if Darrelle Revis plays, he is not what he once was, and New York is vulnerable to the downfield passing attack. Arizona must exploit it. On defense, they need to force Ryan Fitzpatrick into mistakes. Anyone who has watched his team play knows he has been susceptible to mistakes.

More Jets: Losing Eric Decker Could Spell Disaster

Prediction

This one isn’t tough, but the New York fan base won’t like it. Fantasy players, start Carson Palmer. He could have one of his biggest days. Arizona takes this one pretty easily.
