David Johnson Dices Up Jets, Goes 58 Yards for Touchdown (Video)
David Johnson got the Arizona Cardinals offense rolling with one play, making the New York Jets defense look entirely silly in the process.
Amidst the struggles of the Arizona Cardinals to start the 2016 NFL season, they’ve had major issues in the first quarter. Coming into their Week 6 Monday Night Football matchup with the New York Jets, the Cards had yet to score in the first quarter this season. Of course, all it took was a little bit of dynamic magic from running back David Johnson to change that in an instant.

Playing at home, the Cardinals looked a bit disheveled on their first drive before punting. However, their defense came up big on the ensuing Jets drive and gave Arizona’s offense great field position. It wouldn’t have mattered with what Johnson did to the visiting Jets, though.
On first down, David Johnson got the carry and took it off of the left edge of the line. Though the Jets seemed to have good pressure coming to stop the run, the second-year back made a few guys miss and cut upfield. Then he made even more Jets defenders miss as he cut towards the sideline. With New York already looking silly, Johnson then turned on the burners and torched the rest of the Jets defense pursuing him all the way to the house. 58 yards later, the Cards finally had a first-quarter touchdown:
This is much more what Arizona had in mind coming into the season.
If the Cardinals are going to get to NFC Champion form, Johnson will have to be one leading the way. In his sophomore season, he’s proving to be one of the best backs in the league. Runs like this show every reason why.
