Chicago Bears quarterback Brian Hoyer left Thursday Night Football against the Green Bay Packers with an arm injury in the second quarter

Brian Hoyer has been quite good (shockingly) since taking over the starting duties as quarterback for the Chicago Bears. An injury to Jay Cutler forced the backup in Hoyer into action early in the year. Though it hasn’t resulted in wins for the Bears, Hoyer’s stats have been solid and he’s looked much more comfortable than Cutler did in limited action. Unfortunately, Hoyer’s run might be ending after Thursday Night Football.

To start Week 7, the Bears faced off with the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football from Lambeau Field. It was an ugly affair through the first quarter with Green Bay getting the only points on a field goal. However, Hoyer looked to be getting at least something going for the offense early in the second quarter. We’ll never know if he could’ve got things rolling, though.

With about 10 minutes left in the second quarter, Hoyer was hurried and then taken down. On his landing, his arm and shoulder went hard into the turf. Even worse, the angle that the bodies of Packers defenders landed on his arm looked bad. When the quarterback’s teammates tried to help him up, he was unable to do so in tremendous pain.

You can watch video of the injury here.

In obvious pain, Hoyer went straight to the locker room, reportedly to immediately get x-rays on the forearm he was clearly favoring.

With Cutler still injured, the Bears only rostered one other quarterback on Thursday: Matt Barkley. He was forced into action clearly following Hoyer’s injury.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated as to the extent of the injury.
