Cincinnati Bengals star receiver A.J. Green hauled in a ridiculous touchdown catch on a Hail Mary to end the first half vs Cleveland

The Cleveland Browns came out firing against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 7. Though the home Bengals struck first, the Browns jumped out to a lead in the first half. When Cleveland quarterback Cody Kessler went out with an injury, though, Cincy started turning up the heat. After reclaiming the lead, they decided to take a shot to increase their lead at the end of the second quarter. Star wideout A.J. Green was up to the task.

With only time for one more play, Andy Dalton and the Bengals elected to just throw a jump ball in the end zone. A player with the length and athleticism of Green is always going to have a chance in a situation like that. However, it was his reaction time and awareness that paid more dividends.

Dalton heaved the pigskin into the end zone where the predictable crowd formed. At least one Browns defender got a hand on the ball, but so did Green. While being taken to the ground due to the contact, the receiver kept his eyes on the ball and then reached out on his way to his back. He was able to maintain the focus to get the ball in his clutches and then tuck it safely home for six.

It shouldn’t be legal to be that big, that strong, and that good while also being that mentally in tune with the game. Of course, that’s why A.J. Green is one of the best.

Looks like we have yet another Catch of the Year candidate on our hands.
