Veteran Cardinals tight end Jermaine Gresham lit up Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane with a wicked stiff arm on Sunday Night Football

There have been many things that we’ve seen throughout the first six weeks of the 2016 NFL season in primetime. On Thursdays we’ve seen mostly horrible football while Mondays have been hit or miss. However, Sunday Night Football has arguably been the best crop of games and Week 7’s matchup between the Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks was just the next in the bunch. And Jermaine Gresham put on his best stiff-arming shoes (or sweatbands) for the occasion.

In a physical, low-scoring affair in the first half, the veteran Cardinals tight end caught a short pass and looked to find room upfield. As he cut out to the right to the sideline, though, Seattle cornerback Jeremy Lane tried to impede his progress. Gresham was having absolutely none of that.

Arizona’s new, veteran tight end unleashed a stiff arm akin to a forearm shiver that absolutely sent Lane flying into the sideline. Seriously—this could’ve been ruled as simple assault for the mauling that Lane took on the play:

You have to think that Lane will think again about trying to out-physical a player like Gresham anytime soon. That doesn’t look like something you want to have happen to you more than once.

As beautiful as the stiff arm was from the Arizona tight end, though, it doesn’t count for any points. The Cardinals wish it did as those were at a premium in the first half. However, the home team did hold a 3-0 lead after two quarters.
