Seahawks at Cardinals Recap, Highlights, Final Score, More
Missed overtime field goals from both the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals left the NFC West rivals tied to end their Week 7 matchup
Anyone could have expected a war between the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals in Week 7. These NFC West rivals have no love lost for one another and also have two of the most talented defenses in the NFL. However, if two great defenses are so impressive that no one scores, did this game really happen?
Well, this one did—and it was long and scoreless. It says something that this game went into overtime knotted at 3-3, saw two early field goals, and then a missed field goal from first Cardinals kicker Chandler Cantanzaro and then Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka. That’s the ugly, grinding affair that this was.
So when you look at the big lines for Russell Wilson and Carson Palmer, don’t be fooled. The defenses ruled this game with their playmaking and forcing of penalties throughout. Save for David Johnson, the offenses outside of that lay dormant all night long.
And hours after the game has concluded, we’re still all knotted up.
Three Stars
David Johnson, Cardinals – Arizona’s running back was really the only player for either team consistently moving the ball. Though his 33 carries for 113 yards isn’t a great average, he also added eight catches for 58 yards to really round out a nice day.
Bobby Wagner, Seahawks – Wagner was literally everywhere on defense. He blocked a field goal, pressured another, got after the quarterback, and ended the night with 13 tackles and one quarterback hit.
Cardinals Front-Seven – Russell Wilson will likely have nightmares over what he had to deal with all night. The Cardinals front-seven was either getting to Wilson or getting held on almost every play. It was a fantastic performance.
