4. Always Trust the Veteran Captain

If there is one player the Cowboys can rely on week after week, year after year, it’s tight end Jason Witten. Not only did Witten do everything he could to outsmart the Eagles and get wide-open for the game-winning touchdown catch, but he did a lot of other unsung things in the win, too.

When the Cowboys needed extra pass protection late in the game, it was Witten with Ezekiel Elliott in the backfield who provided extra protection for Dak Prescott. Witten is no doubt the leader of the Cowboys. He leads by example with the way he plays in a variety of formations, providing young players with a constant.

Elliott and Prescott might be the big players who have all the headlines now, but Mr. Reliable (Witten) is always around when the Cowboys are in a jam like they were Sunday night in overtime.

Witten finished the game with just two receptions, but the final one was the most important one. When they needed a touchdown catch to seal a big divisional victory, it was the captain who found space in the end zone and hauled in the game-winner.
