No other quarterback in the NFL is throwing an interception as hapless as this one by Blake Bortles in Week 10.

When it comes to figuring out creative ways to throw horrendous interceptions, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles is the Michaelangelo of the NFL. He paints his turnover masterpiece each week, finding new ways to get the light to hit the ball as it goes into the clutches of the opposing team. In Week 10 against the Houston Texans, though, Bortles found a new way for even him to turn the ball over in embarrassing fashion.

It’s worth noting that Bortles began creating his interception opus early in the game. On the Jaguars first drive from scrimmage, he threw a horrible pick-six where he put too much air under the ball on a horrible throw. It got even worse for him, though.

On what was supposed to be a simple screen pass, running back T.J. Yeldon went out to the left of his quarterback. For whatever reason, Blake Bortles then threw a mini-bullet right at the feet of Yeldon. The ball then bounced up in the air and right into the waiting arms of Whitney Mercilus for the Texans interception:

I’ve spent a bit of time pondering why in the hell Bortles threw the ball there. Was he trying to put it in the dirt? Did he think Yeldon was closer to him than he was? Is he just the absolute worst and captain of quarterback misfortune?

After further review, the latter seems to be the case. Peace be with you, Jags fans.
