Carolina Panthers receiver injured his left arm after an awkward landing on a tackle and was forced back to the locker room.
The Carolina Panthers haven’t had many breaks go their way on either side of the ball. While the issues on defense are shocking, it’s been more stunning to see the offense struggle. Considering that Cam Newton was coming off of his MVP season and was getting receiver Kelvin Benjamin back from a torn ACL that forced him to miss all of 2015, they should have been clicking. They haven’t, though, and now they might be worse for the wear in terms of the wideout down the stretch.
NFL Week 11: Quarterback Power Rankings
Playing against the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football, the Panthers found themselves in a dogfight. While that wasn’t what anyone expected, it’s the type of game Carolina would prefer. Tied 3-3, though, they were trying to move the ball. That put the ball in the hand of Kelvin Benjamin across the middle, who turned up field for a nice gain.
However, the Saints went low to tackle the Panthers receiver, sending him somersaulting to the ground. Here’s a look at the play in question:

He seemingly came down a bit awkwardly and then was seen walking to the sidelines holding his left arm very strangely. Benjamin then saw trainers about that arm:

The scene didn’t get more comforting for Panthers fans as Benjamin was then taken to the locker room for further evaluation:

Despite their struggles, the Panthers are somehow still alive in the NFC South. If this is any kind of lasting injury for Benjamin, though, you can all but rule that out. We’ll be sure to keep you updated when more information is available.
